Rosslyn Park 34 – 19 London Scottish
21/08/26
Park welcomed local rivals London Scottish to The Rock for a Friday Night Lights clash in pre-season. Although much of the momentum seemed to swing the way of the visitors, in classic Park fashion, the hosts made the most of their chances to secure a convincing win.
Tries from Ewan Feneley, Fred Davies, Charlie Coe and ex-colt Max Winter helped the hosts claim an emphatic victory.
The game started very much in favour of Scottish, who looked physical from the off. Five minutes in, a neat move off a scrum saw their winger dive in at the corner to make it 5-0.
Things then got worse for Park when they were on the Scottish line, but a looping pass was intercepted by Rivers, who ran the length of the pitch to score. The conversion followed, making it 12-0.
But the home side responded on 23 minutes when persistent penalties put Park on the five-metre line. Eventually, the pressure was too much, and Davies came up from the maul to claim the score.
The score was then level on 33 minutes when more persistence saw Park knocking at the door, with Ewan Fenley sniping over to score and Freddie Vaughan adding the extras to make it 12-12.
Rosslyn would then head to the sheds in the lead when an excellent move off a lineout inside the Park half allowed Charlie Coe to slice through the defence and score, making it 17-12.
In the second 40, it was Scottish who scored first. An excellent 50:22 set up the resulting lineout, before the visitors bundled over to regain a 19-17 lead.
But then Park switched up a gear. They defended well and attacked from all angles, before eventually the pressure was too much for Scottish when some neat hands put Luke Mehson in the corner.
That lead was then extended on 78 minutes when more pressure and some clever hands allowed Same Kennaugh to dive over the line.
Finally, Park sealed the deal through a fantastic try featuring incredible interplay between the backs, which ex-colt Sam Winter claimed as he dived under the sticks to make the final score 34-19.
